June '00 Mystery
Bird Contest
ANSWER!

  The question was...

NAME THIS SPECIE!
Identify the bird whose eye is shown below by scientific and common names and give its natural range in the wild.

  The answer is:
Slender-Billed Corella Cockatoo
(Cacatua tenuirostris)

It's native habitat is a small region of southeastern Australia in riverine woodland and farmland.

These are photographs of our delightful pet, named Gumby. Gumby was bred by Terry and Rita Rudkin of Fillmore, California. We are very fortunate to have this highly intelligent member of our household! Gumby talks a lot, his favorite phrases being "What'cha doin' Gumby Boy? " and "You smell like garlic!". See Gumby talking in the new video by The Feather Tree,"Talk, Talk, NO Squawk!".

Gumby dances and plays catch with a dampened paper towel. He loves to open pistachio nuts with his "can opener" beak!

The most common incorrect answer to our contest was Rose-Breasted Cockatoo. We appreciate the attempts of everyone who entered the contest and congratulate the five winners! These five folks won a 2001 BABY BIRD CALENDAR!

Why now try now to win in our
JULY MYSTERY BIRD CONTEST!

GOOD LUCK!
