Our last two baby Hyacinths from the 2001 season are almost weaned and ready to go on 3/20/02. We are taking deposits now on 2002 hatch babies.

This sweet baby Blue & Gold Macaw is already sold and will start to wean soon. Large macaws take at least four months to completely wean.

Here are three feathering baby Blue & Gold Macaws. It is amazing to see what a difference a few days make when observing the feather growth in these babies.

Here are five baby Blue & Gold Macaw chicks of various ages on 3/30/02. The oldest chicks are between seven and eight weeks of age. The two smaller ones are between two and three weeks old.

The two Slender-Billed Cockatoo chicks are growing very fast. Their eyes have opened and they are vigorous eaters! This specie is extremely intelligent and is a wonderful pet for one who can appreciate such a precocious bird! They also are wonderful mimics. Our pet, Gumby, says "You smell like garlic!" to everyone he meets!

There are actually four very shy baby Rose-Breasted Cockatoos in this photo! Once they start feathering, Rosies go through a shy stage and will try to hide behind one another. These chicks have just been placed in a weaning cage on 3/30/02.

A baby Blue & Gold Macaws raises his head to see what all the fuss is about as nine baby Rose-Breasted Cockatoos make a lot of noise! We still have a number of Rose-Breasted babies available for reservation but the laying season for this specie is nearly over. Our hens are sitting on their last clutches of eggs for the 2002 season. Order your chick now!

Two adorable Bare-Eyed Cockatoos are shown here with two baby Rose-Breasted Cockatoos of about the same age. The Bare-Eyed is one of our favorite species! They are very intelligent and often have playful, goofy personalities! They also are very good mimics and thus make good talkers.

These Goffin Cockatoo chicks are one and two days old on 3/30/02. The Goffin Cockatoo is high-spirited and intelligent. Being smaller, they make less noise than do the larger cockatoo species. The Goffin Rose-Breasted, Ducorp's, Citron, and Bare-Eyed Cockatoos are all about the same size.

Here are the two oldest Blue & Gold Macaws on 4/6/02. They will be ready to go to a weaning cage soon. These little fellows are like puppies, they love to be handled. A large macaw makes a wonderful pet but requires a lot of attention and freedom outside of a cage for health and happiness. The two babies at the top are Slender-Billed Corella Cockatoos and the lower chick is a Bare-Eyed Corella Cockatoo. Both species are highly intelligent and good at mimicry. These cockatoos are natural clowns and often have very amusing behaviors. The Slender-Billed has a loud call but the Bare-Eyed is generally a quieter species.

Bronze-Winged Pionus chicks on 4/13/02 are feathered and ready for a weaning cage. These little fellows are slow to wean so it will be at least six weeks more before they are completely weaned. These beauties have lovely coloration and a calm demeanor and are nice for family pets. Once quite rare, they now breed well in captivity.

Moluccan Cockatoo chicks are starting to pinfeather on 4/13/02. The Moluccan takes about four months from hatching to completely wean.

This baby Slender-Billed Cockatoo stays hungry. Even with a bulging full crop of baby formula, he will whine for more! These Corella Cockatoo babies are very alert and already quite observant of everything that happens in the nursery.

Here are four just-hatched baby Panama Amazon chicks on 4/13/02. These babies are all sold. We hope to have more Panama chicks available later in the breeding season.

These three baby Tres Maria Amazon chicks on 4/22/02 are just starting to show colored pinfeathers that will some bloom into gorgeous plumage coloration.

On 4/22/02, the Slender-Billed Corella Cockatoo chicks are feathering and a lot less vocal than they were just a few days earlier. Their striking facial and chest coloration is already apparent. These adorable chicks are Goffin Cockatoos. This is one of the smallest of the cockatoos and is less noisy than the larger cockatoo species. These chicks are between three and four weeks of age on 4/22/02. Goffins make delightful pets. They have impish, lively personalities!

These Moluccan Cockatoo babies are already showing their beautiful coloration in their pinfeathers. We feed a freshly made formula full of natural carotenes, thus our baby birds have deeply colored plumage. Feather coloration is highly influenced by diet. On 4/22/02, these chicks are between three and four weeks of age and will be completely feathered in another four to five weeks.
